The 2015 Oscar nominations were announced Thursday, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences once again did not nominate a single actor of color.
The exclusion of performers like Idris Elba for “Beasts of No Nation” or Jason Mitchell for “Straight Outta Compton” are leading many to hop on social media to criticize the nominee selection process with a familiar hashtag. #OscarsSoWhite, which trended at this time last year, is a repeat reaction to last year’s Oscar snubs, including David Oyelowo for his portrayal of Dr. Martin Luther King in “Selma.”
This year, people are upset that Sylvester Stallone scored a nod for “Creed,” but star Michael B. Jordan and director Ryan Coogler were both shut out.
