How indy is this? “Middle of Nowhere” producer Paul Garnes, who won the John Cassavetes award category for best feature under $500,000, rode the shuttle back to parking lot 5 after the show.

“The nomination is the award,” Women In Film president Cathy Schulman told the group of Oscar nominees (each wearing a white gardenia) at WIF’s annual Friday Cocktails.

“Hey hotstuff,” one photographer yelled at Jessica Chastain as she arrived with ten minutes to go in the three hour event. Inside, Chastain hung with Danielle Radcliffe. With Radcliffe, Chastain, and David O. Russell all rolling in close to 8 o’clock, the party peaked right at the end and intimate power circles sprung up in the emptying room continued for another hour.

“If it weren’t for so many women paving the way for a cute little black girl with weird teeth and a round body, I wouldn’t be here and nobody would know who I am,” Octavia Spencer told the Women In Film crowd. “I’m not Halle Berry. I tell people I’m ‘barely Halle’.” (Photo by Mikey Glazer)
