The Oscars are creeping their way back again.
The 82nd Annual Academy Awards will be held one week later than usual, on Sunday, March 7, 2010, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Wednesday. The move was made to avoid conflicts with the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver on Feb. 28.
Once held regularly at the end of March — even occasionally reaching into the beginning of April — they ceremony was moved in 2004 to the last Sunday in February, which was seen at the time as an attempt to gain prominence over the increasing encroachment of the Globe’s.
As usual, it will take place at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood and be televised by ABC. Nominations will be announced on Feb. 2.
