Paramount, Bad Robot Acquire ‘Wunderkind’ Spec Script

J.J. Abrams' production company teams with Paramount to option Nazi-hunting thriller "Wunderkind"

Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot Productions acquired the spec script "Wunderkind" from writer Patrick Aison, the company announced Monday.

The studio teamed up with J.J. Abrams' production company to buy the rights to produce "Wunderkind" with Chris Cowles and Chris Fenton of H2F Entertainment, according to a press release from Paramount.

H2F's Brian McCurley will serve as associate producer.

Set in the 1970s, the action-thriller follows a young CIA agent hunting runaway Nazis with an older Nazi-hunter from Israel's intelligence agency, the Mossad. The two become reluctantly intertwined as they hunt Hitler's former henchmen.

Aison most recently co-wrote the sci-fi thriller spec "Echo Station," directed by "Daybreakers" duo, twin brothers Michael and Peter Spierig. The $20 million film, financed by investors in Singapore and Australia, was produced by the New York- and Los Angeles-based Circle of Confusion and H2F.

The screenwriter received a master's degree from the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts.
