Paramount Pictures has named Stephen Plum as its new Senior Executive Vice President, Head of Motion Picture Business and Legal Affairs.

In his new role, Plum will report to Chief Operating Officer Andrew Gumpert, a longtime Sony executive who assumed the position this month, and work closely with chairman and CEO Brad Grey. He will directly oversee the movie studio’s day-to-day business affairs.

Plum had been an executive vice president in business affairs at Twentieth Century Fox’s motion picture division since 2003. Before Fox, he worked in the business affairs and legal affairs departments at Paramount.

“I have known Steve for many years, and he is very well-regarded in the industry as a strategic executive with tremendous experience who brings a collaborative approach to deal making,” Gumpert said in a statement. “I’m extremely excited by the opportunity to have him join me and our outstanding team at Paramount to execute on Brad’s strategy as we continue to grow our slate and work with premier talent and global partners.”

“I am thrilled to be returning to Paramount,” Plum said in the statement. “It’s a legendary studio with a wealth of exciting film projects in the pipeline. Alongside Brad, Andrew and the incredibly talented team at Paramount, I look forward to working closely with our studio’s many collaborators and partners.”
