‘Paranormal’ Gets Active Overseas

Micro-budgeted horror film now at $34 million in international gross

International sales agency IM Global announced Wednesday that “Paranormal Activity” has hit the $34 million mark in overseas box office.

The micro-budgeted horror movie, produced by first-time filmmaker Oren Peli back in 2006 for $15,000, took in $19.4 million in foreign receipts over the weekend, and has been No. 1 in the U.K. for the last two weeks.

The film has still yet to open in several key territories, including Japan, South Korea, Italy and Latin America.

Distributed by Paramount in North America, “Paranormal” has grossed $107.4 million domestically.
