Patrick Moran Replaces Barry Jossen as Head of ABC Studios

Jossen will seque into production under shakeup of the company's executive ranks

Patrick Moran will replace Barry Jossen as head of ABC Studios in a shakeup of its executive lineup ranks.

Jossen will exit with a production deal at the company.

In addition, ABC Studio elevated Channing Dungey and Samie Falvey to executive vice president positions.

Moran, formerly the senior vice president of drama at 20th Century Fox Television, joined ABC Studios in 2010, and has brought aboard companies such as Fake Empire and Shonda Rhimes' Shondaland.

"We thank Barry for the amazing work he's done in helping build the strength of the studio and look forward to working with him as an Academy Award winning producer on our lot,” ABC Entertainment Group president Paul Lee said of the transition.

"During the course of the past year, I have given a lot of thought about what I want to do next due to television's changing landscape," Jossen said of his switch to production. "For me, it seemed best to get out of the day-to-day operational work of overseeing ABC Studios. I plan to return to producing and am considering a number of other opportunities that have come my way.

"I love my colleagues at ABC Studios and have been quietly preparing them for success as they transition into their new positions," Jossen added.

Dungey, who had previously served as senior vice president, drama development at ABC Studios, developed and acquired series such as "Desperate Housewives" and "Grey's Anatomy."

Falvey, formerly ABC Studios' senior vice president, comedy development, developed and launched ABC's Wednesday night comedy block including "Modern Family" and "The Middle."

Dungey will add movies and miniseries to her responsibilities, while Falvey will take on international scripted development for comedy as an additional duty.

"Samie, Patrick and Channing are talented, risk-taking storytellers, as well as trusted executives, with strong relationships throughout the creative community," Lee said. "Their innate understanding of how to nurture franchises while developing new hits will provide the foundation for our continued success. Additionally, these moves further empower our creative leadership and ensure the vibrancy of the network and studio in the future."
