Almost six months after Geremy Jasper’s “Patti Cake$” won raves at the Sundance Film Festival — and sold to Fox Searchlight for roughly $10 million — the first trailer is finally here.
Overseas breakout star Danielle Macdonald stars as the title character, a lower-middle-class cater waiter who dreams of being a rap sensation.
The thing is, she’s got the skills. Cabaret performer, “Inside Amy Schumer” player and overall national treasure Bridget Everett stars as her nay-saying mom, whose own dreams of rock stardom never came to pass.
Cathy Moriarty, Mamoudou Athie and Siddharth Dhananjay costar with a special appearance from MC Lyte.
