Paul Dano Joins Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Jackman in Cast of ‘Prisoners’

Paul Dano will join Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Jackman and Melissa Leo in “Prisoners,” to be directed by Denis Villeneuve, it was announced by the producers, Alcon, on Monday.

Written by Aaron Guzikowski, the story revolves around a small-town carpenter named Keller (Jackman) whose young daughter and her best friend are kidnapped. After the cops fail to find them, Keller takes the law into his own hands, but in the process runs up against  Loki (Gyllenhaal), a detective assigned to the case.

Alcon is producing, along with 8:38 Productions Kira Davis and Madhouse Entertainment’s Adam Kolbrenner. Ed McDonnell and John Stark will executive produce. Production is scheduled to begin in early 2013.  Alcon is targeting a Fall 2013 release through its output deal with Warner Bros.

Dano recently wrapped Steve McQueen’s “Twelve Years a Slave” and is currently starring in Sony's “Looper” alongside Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Emily Blunt. He most recently starred in "Ruby Sparks" with Zoe Kazan for Fox Searchlight and is known for his roles in the Academy Award-winning "Little Miss Sunshine" and Paul Thomas Anderson's "There Will Be Blood.
