PilotWatch 2010: NBC Looks to Outside Studios For Laughs (updated)

Plus, pickups at Fox, ABC as the greenlights just keep on comin’.

Friday’s roster of pilot pickups, including two half-hour comedies that don’t come from NBC Studios. It could be a sign the network is looking outside its own house in the search for hits. It’s also a rare outside sale by ABC Studios to a network not named ABC.

"This Little Piggy" (ABC Studios)

W/EP: Stephen Cragg & Brian Bradley 

Logline:  A married father of two, whose dream for a peaceful, mature household is shattered when his under-employed sister and materialistic brother and his wife move in. Half-hour comedy.

 

"Nathan vs. Nurture" (Sony)

W/EP: Moses Port & David Guarascio

 

Logline: A comedy about Griffin Birk, an overachieving heart surgeon who reunites with his birth father and underachieving brothers 35 years after his adoption. Griffin finds he’s not prepared for what it takes to survive in his overly loving, needy and eccentric new family.

"Edgar Floats" (Warner Bros.)

Logline: A drama about a police psychologist who becomes a bounty hunter.

FOX

"Breakout Kings" (20th)

Logline: A closed-ended procedural about a team of marshals and ex-cons who work together to apprehend criminals who break out of prison.

"Most Likely to Succeed" (20th/Imagine)

EP: David Nevins, Brian Grazer
Logline: Ensemble multicamera comedy following a group of people who were superstars growing up who are now dealing with their first taste of adult reality.

"Traffic Light" (20th)

EP/Writer: Bob Fisher
Logline: Based on the Israeli format, a comedy about three male friends in different stages of relationships.
