PilotWatch 2010: TV Vets Land Gigs

Stars of “Numbers,” “Ed” and “24” find new homes on possible series

ABC has recruited TV vets Rob Morrow and Tom Cavanagh for key roles in fall pilots, while Jean Smart is set to return to CBS in "Hawaii Five-O."

Morrow, best known for "Northern Exposure" and the almost-up "Numbers," is set to play a defense attorney is ABC’s Jerry Bruckheimer-produced "The Whole Truth." His casting is in second position to "Numbers," but the CBS show is considered all but canceled.

Also at ABC, Cavanagh ("Ed") will star as a psychologist turned bounty hunter in the network’s "Edgar Floats." He most recently starred in TNT’s short-lived "Trust Me."

Over at CBS, meanwhile, Smart has booked guest starring gig in the "Five-O" reboot. She’ll play the governor of Hawaii.

Smart’s best-known CBS role was on the 1990s sitcom "Designing Women."

All three castings were first reported by The Hollywood Reporter and confirmed by TheWrap.
