President Obama voiced his support for same-sex marriage on Wednesday in an exclusive interview with ABC News’ Robin Roberts.
Obama has often said his views were “evolving” on the matter, but just a few days after Vice President Joe Biden lent his support to the cause on NBC's "Meet the Press," the commander in chief joined him.
“I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married,” Obama told Roberts, in an interview that will appear on “Good Morning America” Thursday.

When the former ESPN anchor asked Obama how his wife Michelle felt about gay marriage, the president said they agreed on the issue and defended it as in keeping with their Christian faith — despite what some others might argue.
Obama argued that states still have the right to make their own laws, and on Wednesday North Carolina voted to ban same-sex marriage.
This could be a divisive stance during the upcoming presidential election, but one place where it will receive immediate praise is Hollywood.
