Carmike Cinemas is joining the list of spots where you can watch Prince’s film “Purple
Carmike, which is set to merge with peer AMC Entertainment to become the biggest theater chain in the country, said “Purple
“The film will be presented on the big screen, as it was meant to be seen, for fans to gather, remember and experience as a community this once-in-a-lifetime artist,” the company said.
AMC Theatres is also playing the 1984 film at nearly 90 locations starting today through Thursday.
And the Minnesota Twins, the baseball team in Prince’s hometown, plan to show a free viewing of “Purple
Prince made his feature film debut in the musical drama that paired with his sixth studio album of the same name. It told a fictionalized account of his own story, a biracial character called “the Kid” who flees an abusive family to be a rock star.
It also marked Prince’s transcendence from star to icon. He had the No. 1 album, single and film at the same time during one point that year.
