Tyka Nelson also says that she and “my brother’s remains” won’t attend any ceremonies before the family service

A memorial for deceased music legend Prince could happen in August — and no, the family hasn’t been spending their time before then bickering.

Prince’s sister, Tyka Nelson, said Friday that the family is planning an August tribute celebration for the “Purple Rain” singer.

“The proposed plan is to have our Memorial/Funeral/Tribute in August more updates soon…,” Nelson wrote on Facebook.

Nelson also dismissed reports that Prince’s relatives have been squabbling.

“To my knowledge…No One in my family has fought about anything, and least of all me…but I must admit I think it’s funny that I’m the one they say, ‘Stormed out…’ or that ‘We are at war,’” Nelson wrote. “Me? Us? ‘Really? Where was I when all that happened?’”

Nelson also noted that she wouldn’t be attending any services before the family-arranged event — and neither would “my brother’s remains.” This would presumably include a reported service scheduled for Sunday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Minnetonka, Minnesota, which Prince attended.

“Please don’t misunderstand…The grief process is a unique experience to each individual and Therefore I support any and all Memorials or Funerals that have happened and/or are being planned,” she said. “However I will Not be in attendance, because I feel that once…is enough.”

Prince died April 21 at age 57 at his Paisley Park home in Minnesota.

Autopsy results are still pending, but reports that the singer had been grappling with a painkiller addiction have surfaced in the weeks following his death.
