Producers Guild Pulls Show from Century City Hyatt

As labor dispute at Hyatt hotel drags on, PGA follows DGA and moves its 2011 ceremony

The Producers Guild of America on Thursday became the second Hollywood guild in two days to pull its awards show out of the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel because of an ongoing labor dispute.

Hyatt Regency Century Plaza HotelThe PGA announced that it will hold the 2011 Producers Guild Awards in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton. On Wednesday, the Directors Guild of America announced that it was moving its ceremony from the Century Plaza to the Hollywood & Highland Center.

In late August, UNITE HERE Local 11, a union representing hotel workers, voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike at two Los Angeles-area hotels because of a dispute with the Hyatt Corporation.

The Hyatt Regency Century Plaza is one of the most popular sites for awards shows. The Writers Guild of America, West held its 2010 ceremony there, as did the American Society of Cinematographers, the Visual Effects Society and the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.

In November of this year, BAFTA/Los Angeles held its Britannia Awards at the Century Plaza. The International Press Academy still plans to hold its Satellite Awards ceremony at the hotel on December 19.

The 2011 PGA Awards will take place on January 22, 2011.
