Rachel Maddow’s Democratic Forum Gives MSNBC First Win Over Fox News Since 2014

Second hour featuring end of Bernie Sanders interview and full Hillary Clinton interview delivers 2.447 million viewers

MSNBC’s Democratic Forum, hosted by Rachel Maddow on Friday, delivered the network its first viewers victory over Fox News since 2014.

For the first hour of the forum, which featured Rachel Maddow’s rotating solo interviews with Democratic presidential candidates Martin O’Malley, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, MSNBC drew 417,000 advertising-coveted 25-54 demo viewers, beating Fox News in the demo.

But the second hour at 9 p.m. ET, which aired the tail end of Maddow’s interview with Sanders and the full interview with Clinton, scored MSNBC a total viewers victory with 2.447 million viewers.

The second-hour victory was the “Lean Forward” network’s first win over Fox News since 2014 and its biggest over CNN since 2012.

The full two-hour event drew 2.332 million viewers and 417,000 demo viewers, trailing Fox News which attracted 2.434 million viewers.

As TheWrap previously reported, the forum delivered some big moments, including Sanders defending his gun record and Maddow hopelessly trying to humanize the candidates.
