AFTRA Sends ‘Raising Hope’ Star to Wisconsin Rally

Actor to represent labor group at gathering after legislative blow to unions

"Raising Hope" actor Lucas Neff is looking to raise a little hope in Madison, Wi. on Saturday.

The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) confirmed on Thursday that Neff will be appearing at the "We Are Wisconsin" rally for workers' rights, following the Wisconsin Senate's vote on Wednesday to strip collective bargaining powers from most government unions.

Neff is expected to march with other AFTRA members at the rally, and may speak at the event.

Neff, a native of Chicago, plays lead male character Jimmy Chance on the Fox series.

Numerous groups have been organizing to rally at the Capitol in Madison on March 12, following the Senate's vote, which occurred without Democrats' presence.

Wisconsin governor Scott Walker has argued that removing collective bargaining rights is necessary in order to balance the state's budget.

AFTRA has been responsive to the situation in Wisconsin since news of Walker's plan to eliminate collective bargaining frst broke.

On February, AFTRA president Roberta Reardon released a statement of support for "the men and women of the public sector unions of Wisconsin, Ohio and throughout the nation who are standing up for their right to organize and bargain collectively."
