ABC's "Wipeout" helped drive the network to an overall win Thursday night, while CBS's new reality show "3" got off to a disappointing start with its series premiere, according to preliminary numbers.
ABC took first place in the advertiser-friendly 18-49 demographic and total viewers with a 1.9 rating/6 share and 6.4 million. "Wipeout" at 8 p.m. was up 29 percent from last week for a 2.2/7 — tying a "Big Bang Theory" repeat and "Big Brother" for first place — and drew 6.7 million total viewers. "Rookie Blue" at 10 also grew over last week, posting a 1.5/5 and attracting 5.7 million total viewers.
CBS came in second in ratings and total viewers with an average 1.7/5 and 5.2 million. Following repeats of "Big Bang Theory" (which was the night's most-watched program with 7.8 million total viewers) and "Two and a Half Men," "Big Brother" at 9 drew even with last week for a 2.2/7 and grabbed 6 million total viewers. The series premiere of the dating reality show "3" the following hour received a 0.8/2, CBS's lowest rating ever for a new series debut, and received 2.4 million total viewers.
Univision took third in ratings and total viewers with a 1.4/5 and 3.6 million total viewers.
Fox came in fourth in ratings and fifth in total viewers with an average 0.9/3 and 2.3 million. "Take Me Out" at 8 pulled even with last week for a 1.2/4 and drew 2.9 million total viewers. A "Glee" repeat followed.
NBC took fifth place in ratings and fourth in total viewers, averaging a 0.7/2 and 2.9 million. Following repeats of "The Office" and "Parks & Recreation," a new episode of "Saving Hope" at 9 showed modest improvement over last week with a 0.6/2 and took 2.9 million total viewers, while "Rock Center With Brian Williams" the following hour was also up slightly with a 0.8/2 and 3.7 million total viewers.
