Ratings: ‘Big Brother’ Boosts Highest-Rated and Most-Watched CBS Win Despite Blackout

NFL preemptions may have inflated initial numbers

CBS leaned on its "Big Brother" to win outright as the highest-rated and most-watched network on Thursday, according to preliminary numbers. Meanwhile, ABC, CBS, NBC and The CW ratings may have been inflated by local market NFL preemptions.

CBS was first in ratings with a 1.7 rating/5 share in the advertiser-sought 18-49 demographic and first in total viewers with an average of 6.1 million, according to the overnight numbers. In between reruns, "Big Brother" at 9 p.m. earned a 2.3/7 — making it the highest-rated program of the night — and 6.9 million viewers. CBS led even as the CBS/Time Warner Cable blackout continues in several major markets.

ABC was second in ratings with a 1.4/5 and in total viewers with 5.6 million. "Wipeout" at 8 received a 1.6/6 and 5.1 million viewers. At 9, "Motive" earned a 1.3/4 and 5.9 million viewers. At 10, "Rookie Blue" got a 1.4/4 and 5.8 million viewers.
