Ratings: ABC Tops With ‘Expedition Impossible,’ ‘Wipeout’ Premieres

Mark Burnett’s latest reality competition ties for first; Fox’s dance competition dips 14 percent

The season premiere of ABC's "Wipeout" and the debut of the network's "Expedition Impossible" tied for Thursday's top-rated show, according to preliminary numbers.

"Wipeout" at 8 p.m. earned a 2.3 rating/8 share in the 18-49 demo. At 9, "Expedition Impossible," the new reality series from Mark Burnett, earned a 2.3/7 in the demo. "Wipeout" took 7.4 million total viewers, while "Expedition" received 7 million total viewers. The Season 2 premiere of "Rookie Blue" at 10 had a 1.6/5 in the demo and 5.8 million total viewers.

Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" at 8 was down 14 percent in the demo, earning a 1.9/7 and 6.3 million total viewers. A "Glee" repeat at 9 received a 1.1/3 in the demo and 3.2 million total viewers.

NBC aired repeats throughout the evening, with the exception of its struggling new series "Love Bites" at 10. It dropped 20 percent from its June 16 airing, earning a 0.8/2 in the demo and 1.9 million total viewers.

CBS' primetime roster consisted entirely of repeats.

Meanwhile, President Obama's speech on Afghanistan on Wednesday drew the lowest audience ever for one of his primetime addresses, 25.4 million total viewers across nine networks.
