Ratings: ABC’s ‘Bless This Mess’ Series Premiere Has a Clean Demo Win in Time Slot

But CBS tops Tuesday’s primetime averages

Bless Lake Bell and Dax Shepard’s new ABC sitcom. Debuting at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, “Bless This Mess” won its half hour among adults 18-49. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough for ABC to overtake CBS in terms of primetime averages.

NBC settled for a third-place finish in the key demo.

CBS was first in ratings with a 0.9 rating/4 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 9 million, according to preliminary numbers. “NCIS” at 8 p.m. posted a 1.1/5 and 11.7 million viewers. At 9, “FBI” landed a 0.9/4 and 8.7 million viewers. “NCIS: New Orleans” at 10 received a 0.7/3 and 4 million viewers.

ABC was second in ratings with a 0.8/4 and third in viewers with 3.9 million. “American Housewife” at 8 had a 0.8/4 and 3.9 million viewers. At 8:30, “The Kids Are Alright” got a 0.7/3 and 3.1 million viewers. “Black-ish” at 9 received a 0.8/4 and 3.5 million viewers. At 9:30, “Bless This Mess” debuted to a 0.9/4 and 4.6 million viewers. The season finale of “The Rookie” at 10 concluded its freshman run with a 0.7/3 and 4 million viewers.

NBC was third in ratings with a 0.7/3 and second in viewers with 5.1 million. “The Voice” at 8 put up a 1.0/5 and 7.1 million viewers. “The Village” at 9 had a 0.6/3 and 3.9 million viewers. At 10, “New Amsterdam” got a 0.6/3 and 4.5 million viewers.

Fox was fourth in ratings with a 0.6/3 and in viewers with 2.1 million. “MasterChef Junior” at 8 had a 0.7/3 and 2.5 million viewers. At 9, “Mental Samurai” got a 0.5/2 and 1.7 million viewers.

The CW and Telemundo tied for fifth in ratings, both with a 0.4/2. CW was fifth in total viewers with 1.5 million, Telemundo was sixth with 1.2 million.

For The CW, “The Flash” at 8 had a 0.6/3 and 1.8 million viewers. At 9, “Roswell, New Mexico” got a 0.3/1 and 1.1 million viewers. The dramas were preempted in the New York and Boston markets for some Yankees-Red Sox baseball.

Univision was seventh in ratings with a 0.3/2 and in viewers with 1.1 million.
