Ratings: ABC’s ‘Greatest Hits’ Debut Tops ‘Spartan,’ But Not ‘Big Brother’

CBS claims Thursday primetime, despite airing mostly reruns

ABC’s “Greatest Hits” may not be a great hit, but it did pretty darn well on Thursday for a summer debut.

The show bested NBC’s “Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge” in the 9 o’clock hour, but fell shy of CBS’ “Big Brother.”

CBS was first in ratings with a 1.2 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 5.1 million, according to preliminary numbers. Sandwiched between reruns, “Big Brother” earned a 1.8/7 and 5.8 million viewers.

ABC and NBC tied for second in ratings, both with a 0.9. ABC had a 4 share, NBC got a 3. ABC was second in total viewers with 4 million, NBC was third with 3.6 million.

For ABC, “BattleBots at 8 p.m. posted a 0.9/4 and 3.6 million viewers. “Greatest Hits” at 9 premiered to a 1.1/4 and 4.8 million viewers. A repeat followed.

For NBC, more Olympic Swimming Trials at 8 racked up a 1.2/5 and 5.2 million viewers. At 9, “Spartan” received a 1.0/4 and 3.7 million viewers. “Aquarius” at 10 managed a 0.4/2 and 2 million viewers.

Univision and Telemundo tied for fourth in ratings, both with a 0.6. Univision had a 3 share, Telemundo had a 2. Univision was fifth in total viewers with 1.8 million, Telemundo was sixth with 1.5 million.

Fox was sixth in ratings with a 0.5/2, but fourth in viewers with 2.2 million. Following a rerun, “Home Free” at 9 had a 0.5/2 and 1.9 million viewers.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.2/1 and in viewers with 794,000. After a repeat, “Beauty & the Beast” at 9 got a 0.2/1 and 759,000 viewers.
