Ratings: CBS Edges Out Fox as ‘Criminal Minds’ Beats ‘Idol’ for First Time

NBC’s lineup ticks up

CBS won Wednesday in a squeaker over Fox, thanks to “Criminal Minds” topping “American Idol” for the first time ever in the singing competition’s second hour.

CBS was first in ratings with a 2.2 rating/7 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and first in viewers with an average of 9.9 million, according to preliminary numbers. At 8 p.m., “Survivor” received a 2.2/7 and 9.6 million viewers. At 9, “Criminal Minds” earned a 2.5/7 and 10.4 million viewers — the most eyeballs of the night. “CSI” at 10 got a 1.9/5 and 9.7 million viewers.

Fox was second in ratings with a 2.1/6 and in viewers with 8.8 million. “American Idol” at 8 was the only show on the primetime schedule.

ABC was third in ratings with a 1.9/6 and in viewers with 6 million. “The Middle” at 8 had a 1.9/7 and 7.1 million viewers. “Suburgatory” at 8:30 got a 1.6/5 and 5.2 million viewers. “Modern Family” at 9 earned a 3.2/9 — the highest of the night — and 8.8 million viewers. “Mixology” at 9:30 received a 1.6/4 and 4.4 million viewers. “Nashville” at 10 got a 1.5/4 and 5.2 million viewers.

NBC was fourth in ratings with a 1.5/5 and in viewers with 5.3 million. “Revolution” at 8 received a 1.3/4 and 4.4 million viewers. “Law & Order: SVU” got a 1.7/5 and 5.8 million viewers. “Chicago PD” at 10 had a 1.6/5 and 5.7 million viewers.

Univision was fifth in ratings with a 1.1/3 and in total viewers with 2.7 million.

The CW was sixth in ratings with a 0.7/2 and 2.1 million viewers. “Arrow” at 8 received a 0.8/3 and 2.3 million viewers. “The Hundred” at 9 had a 0.6/2 and 1.9 million viewers.

Telemundo was seventh in ratings with a 0.5/1 and in total viewers with 1.2 million.
