Ratings: ‘Dancing With the Stars’-Powered ABC Edges NBC in Total Viewers as ‘Blindspot’ Shrinks

CBS’ “Life in Pieces” rises

NBC bested its broadcast competition on Monday in the key 18-49 demographic — but ABC snuck past it in total viewers, thanks to an up “Dancing With the Stars” — which featured contestants performing classic routines from movies such as “Dirt Dancing” and “Grease” — and a down “Blindspot.”

For CBS, “Life in Pieces” had a nice resurgence from last week, as did the lower-rated “NCIS: Los Angeles.” Fox’s Monday struggles continued.

CW’s numbers from last night are inflated due to NFL preemptions in New York City. The networks faced stiff competition from cable’s “Monday Night Football,” which got a bump from the premiere of the new trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” and Major League Baseball playoffs.

NBC was first in ratings with a 2.7 rating/8 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 10 million, according to preliminary numbers. “The Voice” at 8 p.m. had a 3.0/9 and 11.1 million viewers. “Blindspot” at 9 got a 2.1/7 and 7.8 million viewers.

CBS was second in ratings with a 2.0/6 and third in viewers with 9.9 million. “The Big Bang Theory” at 8 earned a 3.7/12 and 14.3 million viewers. “Life in Pieces” at 8:30 received a 2.1/6 and 8.7 million viewers. “Scorpion” at 9 posted a 1.8/5 and 9.3 million viewers. “NCIS: Los Angeles” at 10 had a 1.3/4 and 8.7 million viewers.

ABC was third in ratings with a 1.6/5, but first in viewers with 10.5 million. “Dancing With the Stars” at 8 got a 1.9/6 and 12.3 million viewers. “Castle” at 10 received a 1.1/3 and 6.9 million viewers.

Fox was fourth in ratings with a 1.0/3 and in viewers with 3 million. “Gotham” at 8 had a 1.3/4 and 4.1 million viewers. “Minority Report” got a 0.6/2 and 1.9 million viewers.

Univision was fifth in ratings with a 0.8/2 and in viewers with 2.2 million.

Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.7/2 and in viewers with 1.8 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.4/1 and in viewers with 1.3 million. “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” at 8 posted a 0.4/1 and 1.2 million viewers. “Jane The Virgin” at 9 had a 0.5/1 and 1.4 million viewers.
