Ratings: ‘The Event,’ ‘Law & Order: L.A.’ Up; ‘House’ Season Finale Drops Sharply

Fox’s medical drama slips 23 percent in its closer compared to last year’s sign-off, while “Dancing With the Stars” continues its reign at the top

In an evening that was predictably dominated by ABC's 'Dancing With the Stars,' the season finale of Fox's "House" experienced a dramatic dip compared to last season's sign-off, while NBC's "The Event" and "Law & Order: Los Angeles" experienced pronounced boosts, according to preliminary numbers.

The first part of the "Dancing" season performance finale at 8 p.m. was down 6 percent from its performance finale last fall, but nonetheless took the top spot of the night with a 4.6 rating/13 share in the adults 18-49 demo and 22.1 million total viewers. The season premiere of "The Bachelorette" the following hour was flat with its last premiere, garnering a 2.8/7 in the demo and 9.2 million total viewers.

Fox's primetime roster was a mixed bag for the network, with the season finale of "House" tumbling 23 percent in the demo compared to its previous finale last May, taking a 3.3/10 in the demo and 8.9 million total viewers. (The show still nabbed he second-highest ratings of the evening.) The following hour's "The Chicago Code" jumped 11 percent from last week with a 2.0/5 in the demo and 7 million total viewers.

NBC, meanwhile, started the night with "Minute to Win It" at 8, which drew a 1.5/4 in the demo and 4.2 million total viewers. The series finale of the recently canceled "The Event" led the science-fiction thriller out on a bright note. It climbed 15 percent over last week's airing with a 1.5/4 in the demo and 4.5 million total viewers. "Law & Order: Los Angeles," which has been climbing in the ratings in recent weeks following a March relaunch, continued its ascent on Monday, surging 27 percent from last week's episode with a 1.4/4 in the demo and 5.9 million total viewers.

CBS' roster consisted mostly of repeats, with back-to-back reruns of "How I Met Your Mother" at 8 and 8:30 taking a 1.5./5 and 1.5/4 in the demo, respectively; a "Two and a Half Men" repeat at 9 scoring a 2.2/6 in the demo and 8 million total viewers; and a previously aired "Mike & Molly" at 9:30 nabbing a 1.9/5 in the demo and 7.2 million total viewers. The evening closed with the special "Clash of the Commercials," which drew a 2.0/5 in the demo and 6.9 million total viewers.
