ABC's "Whodunnit" and NBC's "Crossing Lines" had soft premieres on a low-rated Sunday night in which ABC and Fox tied for first place.
ABC tied Fox in the key 18-49 demographic with a 1.5/rating and 3 share. (Fox had a 4 share.) Fox was fourth in total viewers, averaging 2.5 million. It ran all repeats, but one of them — "Family Guy" at 9 p.m. — was the night’s highest-rated program with a 1.5 rating 4 share. It had 3.3 million total viewers.
ABC was third in total viewers, averaging 4 million. After an "America's Funniest Home Videos" rerun at 7, the season premiere of "Celebrity Wife Swap" earned a 1.3/4 and 4.4 million viewers. At 9, "Whodunnit" premiered to a 1.3/4 and had 4.0 million viewers. A "Castle" repeat followed.
NBC was third in the ratings with a 0.8/2 and second in total viewers, averaging 4.2 million. After a two-hour rerun of "America's Got Talent" that started at 7, its "Crossing Lines" two-hour premiere earned a 0.7/2 and 4.4 million total viewers. The .7 rating tied that of the "Saving Hope" premiere last June as the lowest-rated premiere ever for a drama on ABC, CBS, Fox or NBC.
Univision and Telemundo tied for fourth in the ratings with a 0.7/2 overall, though Univision had more total viewers, 2.1 million to Telemundo's 1.8.
CBS finished the night in sixth place with an overall 0.6/2, but won in total viewership with 4.9 million. It aired entirely repeats.
