Ratings: Whitney Houston Episode Shores Up ‘Glee,’ Fox Wins Night

“The Voice” is top-rated show overall; CBS wins most-watched status despite airing repeats

NBC's "The Voice" dipped slightly in the ratings Tuesday night, while Fox took an overall ratings win thanks largely to "Glee" and its Whitney Houston tribute, according to preliminary numbers.

Fox came in first in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and fourth in total viewers with an average 2.4 rating/7 share in the demo and 5.5 million. "Glee" at 8 p.m. was up 13 percent in the demo from last week, receiving a 2.7/8 in the demo with 6.9 million total viewers.

"New Girl" the following hour took a modest hit versus last week, posting a 2.6/7 with 5.2 million total viewers. A "New Girl" repeat ran at 9:30.

NBC took second place in ratings and third in total viewers with an average 2.3/6 in the demo and 6.7 million total viewers. "The Biggest Loser" at 8 had a modest slip from last week to post a 2.2/7 in the demo and 6.8 million total viewers.

"The Voice" results show at 9 was also down slightly but was the night's highest-rated show with a 3.2/8 in the demo and 8.7 million total viewers. "Fashion Show" the following hour inched up from last week, posting a 1.6/4 in the demo and 4.6 million total viewers.

ABC was third in ratings and second in total viewers with an average 2.0/6 in the demo and 9.3 million. A "Last Man Standing" repeat at 8 was followed by "Cougar Town" at 8:30, which saw a modest increase over last week for a 1.5/4 in the demo and 5 million total viewers.

"Dancing With the Stars" at 9 took a slight hit in the demo, receiving a 2.4/6 with 14.2 million total viewers, making it the night's most-watched show. Despite the ratings dip for "DWTS," "Private Practice" bounced back from last week's series low in its new time period, climbing 29 percent in the demo for a 2.2/6 with 8.4 million total viewers.

CBS took fourth place in the ratings and fourth in total viewership with an average 1.7/5 and 9.9 million. The network's most-watched victory came despite the fact it ran repeats throughout the night.

The CW, meanwhile, had a rough night with the premiere of the Canadian soap opera "The L.A. Complex," which  drew a meager 0.3/2 in the demo with its 9 p.m. premiere — half of what "90210" earned the hour before — and 646,000 viewers.
