Ratings: Grammys, Pro Bowl Mostly Steady as ‘Bachelor’ Sean and Catherine Wedding Special Jumps

ABC’s special sees a 60 percent increase from December 2012’s “Bachelorette” wedding

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards can count CBS among one of its many winners on Sunday night.

With Music’s Biggest Night, the network finished in a very comfortable first place outright in primetime, and appeared to be mostly steady from last year, according to early numbers.

Per the approximate ratings in the key demo, the Grammys earned a 10.1 rating/25 share. The Grammys earned 28.5 million viewers, the show’s second-highest total in 21 years.

CBS was first in ratings with a 8.1/20 in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and first in total viewers with an average of 25.9 million, according to preliminary numbers. The Grammys was preceded at 7 p.m. by “60 Minutes,” which earned a 2.1/6 — down 48 percent from prior week — and 14.5 million viewers.

NBC was second in ratings with a 3.1/8 and in total viewers with 9.3 million. A “Sunday Night Football” special at 7 received a 2.3/7 and 7.9 million viewers. The NFL Pro Bowl followed at 7:30, earning a 3.2/8 and 9.5 million viewers. Though due to the nature of live sports, those numbers are approximate.

ABC and Fox tied for third in ratings, each with a 1.3/3. ABC was third in viewers with 5.6 million, Fox was fourth with 3 million viewers.

For ABC, “America’s Funniest Home Videos” at 7 had a 1.5/4 and 7 million viewers. At 8, “The Bachelor: Sean & Catherine’s Wedding” special earned a 1.6/4 and 6.1 million viewers. A rerun followed.

For Fox, following reruns, its animated lineup was down across-the-board against stiff competition. “The Simpsons” at 8 received a 1.7/4 and 3.9 million viewers. ” At 8:30, “Bob’s Burgers” had a 1.5/4 and 3.3 million viewers. At 9, “Family Guy” got a 2.0/5 and 4.2 million viewers. “American Dad” at 9:30 earned a 1.5/3 and 3.3 million viewers.

Univision was in fifth in ratings with a 0.6/2 and in viewers with 1.9 million.

Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.5/1 and in total viewers 1.4 million.
