Fox won the night — in terms of ratings — with its cooking competition "MasterChef," but it was tight at the top on Wednesday with NBC, CBS close behind.
Fox was first in ratings with a 1.6 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and third in total viewers with an average of 4.1 million, according to preliminary numbers.
After a rerun, "MasterChef" at 9 p.m. was the highest-rated show of the night, earning a 2.2/6 and 5.4 million viewers.

NBC was second in ratings with a 1.5/5 and first in total viewers with 6.3 million. Following a repeat at 8, "America's Got Talent" and 9 earned a 2.1/6 and 9.3 million viewers, making it the most-watched show of the evening. Still, "AGT" was down 16 percent from last week to its season low. "Camp" at 10 received a 1.0/3 and 3.8 million viewers.
CBS was third in ratings with a 1.4/4 and second in total viewers with 5.6 million viewers. "Big Brother" at 8 earned a 2.0/7 and 6 million viewers. Reruns followed.
Univision was fourth in ratings with a 1.2/4 and fifth in total viewers with 3.1 million.
ABC was in fifth in ratings with a 0.9/3 and fourth in total viewers with 3.3 million. following reruns, "Nightline: The Lookout" at 10 earned a 0.9/3 and 3.5 million viewers.
Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.5/2 and in total viewers 1.23 million.
The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.3/1 and in total viewers, with 1.17 million, airing entirely repeats.
