Ratings: Michelle Obama Appearance Gives ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ a 5-Year Viewership High (Video)

"Jimmy Kimmel Live" grabs highest Thursday night total viewership since May 2007 with First Lady's appearance

President Barack Obama might have his hands full trying to pull away from political rival Mitt Romney in the presidential race, but his wife Michelle Obama doesn't have any problem bringing in the numbers.

The First Lady's appearance Thursday night on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" gave the ABC late-night show a major boost in the ratings, yielding "Kimmel"'s best performance in the advertiser-cherished 18-49 demographic since June — and its largest total viewership for a Thursday night broadcast in five and a half years.

Thursday's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" drew 855,000 viewers in the demographic and 2.4 million total viewers, giving the show its best numbers since June 12 in total viewership and in the demo since June 21. (In June, "Jimmy Kimmel Live" got a boost from the NBA Finals.)

In terms of Thursday nights, the Obama episode pulled the highest total viewership since May 2007.
