Ratings: ‘Mixology’ Mixed in Debut, ‘Chicago PD’ Hits Modest High

CBS’ “Survivor” premieres slightly up

Fox topped Wednesday with “American Idol,” as NBC’s “Chicago PD” returned to a series high, ABC’s “Modern Family” was the night’s highest-rated show and CBS’ “Survivor” season premiere ticked up slightly from last spring.

“American Idol” at 8 p.m. pulled in a 2.6/8 in the advertiser-sought adults 18-49 demographic and 10.6 million viewers. It was first in both metrics despite tying its lowest-ever Wednesday in ratings, according to preliminary numbers.

CBS was second in ratings with a 2.5/7 and in viewers with 9.7 million. The “Survivor” premiere at 8 earned a 2.5/7 and 9.8 million viewers. “Criminal Minds” at 10 received a 2.3/7 and 9.5 million viewers.

NBC and ABC tied for third in ratings, each with a 1.8/5. NBC was third in viewers with 6.8 million. ABC was fourth with 5.9 million.

For NBC, “Revolution” at 8 tied a series low with a 1.3/4, and pulled in 4.6 million viewers. “Law & Order: SVU” at 9 earned a 2.0/6 and 7.7 million viewers. “Chicago PD” at 10 received a 2.2/7 — up 29 percent from its last original — and 8 million viewers. “PD” marked the highest rating this season for a regular Wednesday 10 p.m. drama on ABC, CBS or NBC.

ABC’s “The Middle” at 8 got a 1.8/6 and 7.1 million viewers. At 8:30, “Suburgatory” at 8:30 tied a series low with a 1.5/4 and 5.3 million viewers. “Modern Family” at 9 earned a 3.1/9 and 8.6 million viewers. The premiere of “Mixology” followed at 9:30 with a 1.8/5 — the lowest rating for a post-“Modern Family” ever — and 5.2 million viewers. Still, the debut had the best retention out of “Modern” family since early October, and delivered ABC’s best numbers in the time period since early December. “Nashville” at 10 tied a series low with a 1.2/4 and 4.7 million viewers.

Univision was fifth in ratings with a 1.1/3 and in total viewers with 2.9 million.

The CW was sixth in ratings with a 0.7/2 and 2 million viewers. “Arrow” at 8 got a 0.9/3 and 2.5 million viewers. “The Tomorrow People” at 9 had a 0.5/1 and 1.5 million viewers.

Telemundo was seventh in ratings with a 0.5/1 and in total viewers with 1.2 million.
