NBC won the Sunday night ratings by the skin of its teeth, thanks to an NFL preseason game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Jaguars’ 26-21 victory over the Bengals helped NBC finish on top in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic with a 1.5 rating, but second in total viewers with 5.02 million, according to early Nielsen estimates.
CBS finished first in total viewers with 5.04 million — though that number could change as more data rolls in — but third in the key demo with a 0.9 rating. “Big Brother” scored 6.8 million viewers and a 2.0 rating at 8 p.m. ET. A repeat of “Madam Secretary” followed at 9. “BrainDead” managed just 2.3 million viewers and a 0.3 rating at 10.
ABC finished third in total viewers with 4.5 million but fourth in the key demo with a 0.8 rating. “Celebrity Family Feud” got 5.7 million viewers and a 1.0 rating at 8 p.m. ET. The season finale of “The $100,000 Pyramid” drew 5.6 million viewers and a 1.0 rating at 9. “Match Game” closed out at 10 with 4.8 million viewers and a 0.9 rating.
Fox finished fourth in total viewers with 2.8 million but second in the key demo with a 1.0 rating, airing only repeats.
Univision finished fifth with 2.1 million and a 0.7 rating.
The CW finished sixth with 1.0 million viewers and seventh in the key demo with a 0.2 rating, airing only local programming.
Telemundo finished seventh in total viewers with 914,000 but sixth in total viewers with a 0.3 rating.
