NBC gained across the board Tuesday night, as "New Normal" and "Parenthood" grew by double-digit percentages to help push the network to an overall ratings win, according to preliminary numbers.
NBC drew first place in the advertiser-cherished 18-49 demographic with a 2.9 rating/8 share and took third place in total viewers with 7.6 million. "The Voice" at 8 p.m. grew 47 percent from last week's recap episode and was the night's top-rated program with a 4.4/13. "The Voice" took 11.9 million total viewers. The new episode of "The Voice" helped boost the Matthew Perry comedy "Go On" at 9, which jumped 33 percent for a 2.8/7 and drew 7 million total viewers. "The New Normal" at 9:30 grew 18 percent from last week for a 2.0/5 and received 5 million total viewers, while "Parenthood" at 10 was up 25 percent from last week, drawing a 2.0/6 and also receiving 5 million total viewers.
CBS took a close second place in ratings and a dominating first in total viewers with a 2.8/8 and 15 million. "NCIS" at 8 dipped 11 percent from last week, posting a 3.3/10 and grabbing 18 million total viewers — the night's highest total viewership. "NCIS: LA" the following hour was off marginally from last week for a 2.9/8 and had 15.1 million total viewers. The new drama "Vegas" at 10 remained steady with a 2.0/5, and had 11.8 million total viewers.
Fox drew third in ratings and fourth in total viewers with a 2.0/5 and 4 million. "Raising Hope" at 8 saw a slight uptick from last week, taking a 1.8/5 with 4.1 million total viewers, while "Ben and Kate" had a minor downturn in the demo to a 1.8/5, but grew slightly in total viewers, receiving 4.1 million. "New Girl" at 9 was also down slightly, drawing a 2.7/7 and receiving 5 million total viewers. "The Mindy Project" at 9:30 was even with last week for a 1.9/5, and took 3.6 million total viewers.
ABC tied Univision for fourth in ratings and took second in total viewers with a 1.7/5 and 9.2 million. "Dancing With the Stars: An Exclusive Encore" at 8 posted a 1.2/4 with 8.2 million total viewers, while the "Dancing With the Stars" results show the following hour was steady with last week for a 2.1/6 and pulled 13.2 million total viewers. "Private Practice" at 10 was also even with last week with a 1.6/4 and drew 6 million total viewers.
Univision averaged 3.9 million total viewers for the night.
