Ratings: Rising ‘Voice’ Gives NBC a Win

CBS hits season highs with its primetime roster

On a night of ratings increases nearly across the board, "The Voice" proved triumphant, growing to take the night's top slot and push NBC to an overall win Monday, according to preliminary numbers.

NBC took first place in both the 18-49 demographic most important to advertisers with a 3.8 rating/9 share and in total viewers with 11 million. "The Voice" from 8 to 10 grew 14 percent in the demo from last week for a 4.2/10, and drew 12.2 million total viewers. The fall finale of "Revolution" also grew, climbing 12 percent from last week for a 2.9/8. It had 8.7 million total viewers.

CBS drew second place in ratings and total viewers with a 3.1/8 and 10.2 million. Its original shows hit season highs across the board, starting with "How I Met Your Mother" at 8, which jumped 17 percent for a 3.4/9 and took 8.8 million total viewers. Following a repeat of "The Big Bang Theory" at 8:30, "2 Broke Girls" climbed 18 percent for a 4.0/10 and had 11.7 million total viewers. "Mike & Molly" was up 24 percent, taking a 3.6/8 with 11.2 million total viewers, while "Hawaii Five-0" at 10 inched up to a 2.3/6 and took 10.1 million total viewers.

ABC tied Fox for fourth place in ratings with a 1.7/4 and came in third in total viewers with 9.3 million. The "Dancing With the Stars" performance finale at 8 grew 8 percent from last week, posting a 2.6/7 and taking 16 million total viewers — making it the most-watched program of the night by far — while the premiere of "Extreme Makeover: Holiday Edition" scored a 1.3/3 and took 6.3 million total viewers. Part 2 of "Extreme Makeover: Holiday Edition" at 10 drew a 1.2/3 and had 5.2 million total viewers.

Fox averaged 6 million total viewers. "Bones" at 8 grew 15 percent in the demo for a 2.3/6 and had 7.9 million total viewers. "The Mob Doctor" the following hour climbed 33 percent for a 1.2/3 and had 4 million total viewers.

On the CW, "90210" at 8 jumped 32 percent in total viewers from last week to 1 million, and grew modestly in the demo to a 0.5/1. "Gossip Girl" the following hour had a 0.4/1 with 846,000 viewers.
