Ratings: ‘Timeless’ Trounces ‘Conviction’

NBC time travel series bests ABC legal drama in total viewers and key demo

“Timeless” went head to head with fellow new series “Conviction” on Monday night, with the time travel show coming out on top.

The NBC series that follows a group of time travelers trying to stop a madman from changing history pulled in a 1.9 rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic and 7.7 million viewers at 10 p.m. ET. ABC’s new legal drama, meanwhile, managed just a 1.0 rating and 5.4 million viewers.

The two premiering shows both enjoyed strong lead-ins, with “Timeless” coming just after “The Voice” and “Conviction” airing following “Dancing With the Stars.”

NBC won the night overall, averaging a 2.6 rating and 10.3 million viewers. “The Voice” aired from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET, averaging a 3.0 rating and 11.6 million viewers. “Timeless” followed at 10.

CBS finished second with a 2.2 rating and 10.2 million viewers. “The Big Bang Theory” drew in a 3.4 rating and 14.4 million viewers at 8 p.m. ET. “Kevin Can Wait” got a 2.4 rating and 10.4 million viewers at 8:30. The Season 3 premiere of “Scorpion” managed a 1.7 rating and 8.8 million viewers from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., down from Season 2’s 2.2 and 11.1 million viewers.

ABC finished third with a 1.4 rating and 8.9 million viewers. “Dancing With the Stars” aired from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., drawing in a 1.7 rating and 10.6 million viewers. “Conviction” followed at 10.

Fox finished fourth with a 1.0 rating and 3.4 million viewers. “Gotham” got a 1.0 rating and 3.1 million viewers at 8 p.m. ET. “Lucifer” got a 1.1 rating and 3.7 million viewers at 9.

Telemundo finished fifth with a 0.8 rating and 1.8 million viewers.

Univision finished sixth with a 0.6 rating and 1.7 million viewers.

The CW” finished seventh with a 0.4 rating and 1.4 million viewers, airing back to back repeats of “Supergirl.”
