RDF USA Laughing It Up in the UK

‘Wife Swap’ producer signs development deal with Brit network. An animated series is in the works at Fox, too.

RDF Media USA ("Wife Swap") has signed a deal to develop animated and live action series with Dave.

No, not David Letterman. Or Dave Brubeck, the 88-year-old jazz legend.

Seems Dave is a British TV network, part of UKTV, an alliance of BBC Worldwide and Virgin Media. The channel is sort of Comedy Central- like, calling itself the "home of witty banter."

In any case, the deal calls for RDF USA to develop three half-hour series for Dave, including at least one animated project. UKTV hopes to greenlight one of the projects by early next year.

In addition, Christian Drobynk, director of entertainment for UKTV, told a British TV convention that RDF and UKTV have produced an animated pilot that has already been presold to Fox.

That’s Fox, the US TV network, not Fox, some quirky Brit channel.

"In a global market that is increasingly close-knit, we’re working with our partners at Dave to develop comedies that first and foremost work within the UK, but which also have potential to sell and succeed in territories worldwide, including the US," said Chris Coelen, CEO of RDF Media USA.
