‘The Reader’ Oscar credits issue resolved

Contentious issued resolved by Academy’s Producer Committee

The Producers Branch Executive Committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will allow four producer credits for "The Reader," a contender for Best Picture.

Harvey Weinstein and Scott Rudin had argued over producer credits for The Oscars. The committee determined today that the deaths of Anthony Minghella and Sydney Pollack were "rare and extraordinary" circumstances that warranted the inclusion of four producers, rather than the usual limit of three in the Best Picture category.

Pollack and Minghella, two of the original producers, along with Donna Gigliotti and Redmond Morris, are the four official nominees.
