Joe Giudice, husband of “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Teresa Giudice, began his 41-month prison sentence Wednesday.

“Joe Giudice surrendered himself to the Federal Correctional Institution at Fort Dix today at 12 p.m. to begin serving his sentence,” the family attorney James J. Leonard Jr. told People. “His brother, his sister and several other members of the Giudice family, as well as myself, were present when he turned himself in to the prison, including Teresa. It was obviously a very emotional day, but this is a very strong family with a tremendous support system and they will get through this, just as they did when Teresa was away.”

His wife, Teresa, was released on Dec. 23 after serving almost a year-long sentence at Connecticut’s Federal Correction Institute, Danbury.

Teresa was sentenced in October 2014, after she and Joe plead guilty to 41 cases of bank, mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud.

Teresa Giudice has been one of the incendiary favorites from the Bravo unscripted series since its debut in 2009. She has authored three cookbooks and has a hand in hair care and ready-to-drink cocktail lines. She also appeared on Season 5 of “The Celebrity Apprentice.”

Ever the entrepreneur, Teresa penned the memoir “Turning the Tables: From Housewife to Inmate and Back Again” while in the pokey.
