Bravo’s ‘Real Housewives of O.C.’s’ Hippie Mom Episode Hits Season High Ratings

Lead-in helps "Newlyweds: The First Year" premiere draw more than 1 million viewers

Bravo viewers really wanted to meet Lydia McLaughlin's hippie mom.

Monday's episode of "The Real Housewives of Orange County" scored the series' highest ratings of the season. 1.96 million total viewers, including 1.2 million viewers (1.0 share) in the advertiser coveted 18-49 demo, tuned in to show's new time slot at 9 p.m.

The episode showed the fallout from last week's big fight between Tamra Barney and Alexis Bellino. As an added bonus, viewers met new girl Lydia's recovering pothead mother, who has a penchant for throwing fairy dust on strangers.

Additionally, "RHOC's" strong lead-in helped push the premiere of new docu-series, "Newlyweds: The First Year," to more than 1.02 million total viewers with 600,000 viewers (.5 share) in the 18-49 demo.

The series follows four newly married couples through the first year of their marriage.

"Real Housewives of Orange County" airs Mondays nights at 9/8c followed by "Newlyweds: The First Year" at 10/9c.
