‘Rescue Me’ Season Premiere Date Bumped to July 13

The MLB All-Star game and the 10th anniversary of 9/11 conspire to move the season start back a day

Fans of "Rescue Me" who are eager to dive into the series' seventh and final season will have to be a little more patient.

The show's season premiere has been pushed back a day, to July 13 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, rather than the previously scheduled July 12, FX announced on Thursday.

The series will run on Wednesdays throughout its final season.

An FX spokesperson told TheWrap that the decision to move the premiere date was two-fold: To avoid premiering against the MLB All-Star Game, which airs on July 12, and to ensure that the season finale airs the week before the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. (The series stars Denis Leary as a New York City firefighter plagued by memories of the attacks.)

The "Rescue Me" series finale will now air on Wednesday, September 7.
