Revealed! First NBC Promo for Jay Leno 2.0 (updated)

The network is making light of its recent late-night troubles in the on-air spot debuting tonight. Plus: Guess who’s doing Jay 2.0?

NBC has begun its on-air campaign for the new "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" — and the network is making light of its recent late-night wackiness.

The first promo for Jay 2.0 just aired during NBC’s Olympics coverage, according to our spies with access to east coast feeds. It’s a remake of the 2009 Super Bowl spot NBC used to hype the coming "Jay Leno Show" — but with a twist.

Leno is still seen driving his expensive sports car down the Pacific Coast Highway. There’s still a shot of the side of the car painted with the number 10.

But then the 10 flies off the car — only to reveal "11:35." (See video of the spot here.)

NBC chief Jeff Gaspin had hinted the network might play with some of the 10 p.m. promos as a way of making light of the recent Troubles.

Good to know the Peacock still has a sense of humor.

UPDATE 7:05 PM: Meanwhile, one of Leno 2.0’s first guests appears to be leaking word of his booking. Singer Adam Lambert says via his website that he’ll be a guest on the Tuesday, March 2 episode of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

An NBC rep couldn’t be immediately reached for comment.
