And then there were nine.

Rick Santorum is apparently the latest casualty of the Iowa caucuses. The former Pennsylvania senator, who won the Iowa caucuses in 2012, is going to be dropping out of the presidential race on Wednesday, according to multiple news reports.

The Republican candidate is also expected to endorse one of his rivals at a speech later on Wednesday.

CNN’s John King tweeted: “Another GOP departure: CNN has learned @RickSantorum will exit the race tonight. Plans endorsement.”

Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren also tweeted the news Wednesday morning, “Senator Rick Santorum goes ON THE RECORD at 7pm tonight…with 2 announcements.”

The possible departure came just two days after Santorum’s poor showing during the Iowa caucuses, where he earned just 1 percent of the vote.

Santorum’s campaign did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
