Ricky Schroder to Produce Sequel to Military Documentary ‘The Fighting Season’ (Exclusive)

The actor is currently seeking ”unconventional warfare footage“ from military personnel and veterans for ”The Fighting Season: Soldier Edition“

Ricky Schroder Productions (RSP) is in pre-production on a new television series, “The Fighting Season: Soldier Edition,” TheWrap has learned exclusively.

The series follows in the footsteps of RSP’s previous six-part documentary series titled “The Fighting Season,” which aired in May 2015 and was executive produced by Ricky Schroder, Jim Rabon and John Paul DeJoria.

The new series will continue the conversation on America’s longest war told from a soldier’s perspective. The show will combine real footage filmed by military members while deployed, plus interviews and reenactments to tell their personal stories.

“We want to tell these important stories and preserve history in a new way,” Schroder said. “We are not just looking for combat footage, but medical, humanitarian, host nation training and unconventional warfare footage from Iraq and Afghanistan.”

Military personnel and veterans may submit their footage online or via mail. More information on how to submit can be found at the “Fighting Season” website.

Schroder, who was formerly an actor on shows like “Silver Spoons” and “NYPD Blue,” previously spent over 100 days encamped with American troops in the midst of war with the Taliban in the run-up to last year’s historic Afghan presidential elections in “The Fighting Season,” which debuted on DirecTV’s Audience Network on May 19.

“It was the experience of a lifetime, but I am not sure I want to experience it again,” Schroder previously told TheWrap in an exclusive interview in March. “Just to see how Afghanistan looks and feels after it has been such a part of the news for 13 years was fascinating. It is a forever changing place.”
