And now he's planning a children's book based on his Beatles song "Octopus's Garden."

Simon & Schuster Children's Books said Tuesday that it will publish a picture book edition of the song from the 1969 Beatles album "Abbey Road." The book will include a CD featuring previously unreleased music from Starr and an audio reading of the story.

The "Octopus's Garden" book will be illustrated by Ben Cory, who also illustrated "Aliens Love Underpants."

"It gives me great pleasure to collaborate with Ben Cort and Simon & Schuster for the further adventures of Octopus’s Garden," Starr said of the new endeavor. "Peace and Love, Ringo."

Starr wrote the song in 1968, while vacationing in Sardinia on Peter Sellers' yacht. (Starr and Sellers co-starred in the 1969 film "The Magic Christian.")

“It’s an honor to publish such a music legend," Simon & Schuster Childrens' Books president, publisher Jon Anders said. "The pairing of Ringo’s whimsical lyrics with Ben’s charming illustrations is a perfect fit. We’re happy to bring the magic of this song to a whole new generation of readers."

The "Octopus' Garden" book will be published in hardback edition Oct. 24, with  a  paperback edition following the next year. The book will be published in North America in January 2014.
