Roadside Attractions announced Saturday that it has picked up the North American distribution rights to "Thunder Soul,' Mark Landsman's music documentary.
Produced by Snoot Entertainment, "Thunder Soul" follows the alumni from Houston's Kashmere High School stage band, who return to their school to honor their 92-year-old teacher, 35 years after he transformed their mediocre jazz band into a funk powerhouse.
Roadside is targeting a spring 2011 release.
"We're so proud to be releasing the award-winning 'Thunder Soul,' which combines unforgettable music with the story of a devoted teacher who inspired a generation, " said Roadside co-president Howard Cohen.
