Rob Lowe Saves the Day in ‘The Grinder’ Cold Open (Exclusive Video)

But his show-within-a-show is too predictable for Fred Savage’s unimpressed character

Rob Lowe has an epiphany right before his condemned client, played by “The Sopranos” veteran Tony Sirico, is set to go to death row in the newest cold open of Fox’s “The Grinder.”

In the exclusive clip (above), Lowe’s show-within-a-show lawyer, Mitch Grinder, is doing something he rarely does — admitting defeat — before Sirico’s character utters a phrase that triggers a major epiphany and cracks the case wide open.

Offscreen, as usual, Lowe’s actor character, Dean Sanderson, is watching with his family, most of whom are breathless with anticipation at the twist. Fred Savage‘s Stewart, of course, is less than impressed. The Grinder never loses, so why would this time be any different?

The new episode of “The Grinder” also features a returning guest-star turn from Timothy Olyphant.

“The Grinder” airs Tuesdays at 8:30/7:30c on Fox.
