Robert Downey Jr. will produce and direct a new television series starring Anthony Michael Hall, titled “Singularity.”
The “Iron Man” star and his veteran producer wife, Susan Downey, announced the show as part of a new first look deal with Sonar Entertainment and their Team Downey Productions. The agreement will cover scripted and unscripted content for TV and digital platforms.
Plot details are currently unknown, but Hall will topline the project and Downey Jr. will direct the pilot.
“We are excited about Team Downey’s vision for developing and producing a broad scope of original premium content,” said Sonar CEO Thomas Lesinski. “Sonar is thrilled to partner with Robert, Susan and the entire team — it is another example of our commitment to forge creative collaborations with the most dynamic talent in the industry.”
Sonar is an indie content studio and distributor who also counts first look deals with the likes of producers George Clooney and Grant Heslov.
TheWrap was first to report Team Downey’s split with longtime partner Warner Bros. in October. It’s unknown if the married team will seek a similar deal for feature film projects.
Team Downey previously released the 2014 drama “The Judge,” which earned awards buzz for both he and co-star Robert Duvall.
Hall will next be seen in Ben Affleck’s “Live by Night” and the Netflix feature “War Machine” with Brad Pitt and Tilda Swinton. Downey Jr. is currently in production on the next round of “Avengers” sequels for Marvel.
