One of the most emotional moments in “Avengers: Endgame” was the reunion of Tony Stark and Peter Parker after the heartbreaking finale of “Infinity War.” Now, thanks to Robert Downey Jr., we can see how that sequence was shot.

On Saturday, the man behind Iron Man posted a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram of how that green screen scene unfolded, with Downey Jr. and Tom Holland sporting motion capture suits that would be covered with CGI superhero armor in the final cut. The clip shows the camera zooming in on Downey Jr. as Stark, coming face-to-face with his surrogate Spider-son five years after watching him turn to dust.

“Stark and Parker reunited,” Downey Jr. wrote in a caption for the clip. “Spidey senses tell me a few of you were hoping for this moment.”

Of course, as billions of fans who saw “Endgame” know, that reunion was short-lived, as Iron Man made the ultimate sacrifice to insure that Peter and the others who had been killed by Thanos could have a second chance.

Iron Man’s 11-year story is now over, but Spider-Man’s journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is just beginning. As seen in the new trailer released this past week, Peter will begin to find a way forward without his mentor in the upcoming “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” which hits theaters this July.
