Film executive Bob Weinstein is denying his wife Anne's allegation that he poses a threat of "bodily harm" to her, a charge she made while filing for a divorce last week.
Weinstein, co-founder and CEO with his brother Harvey of the Weinstein Co., issued a statement through his "interventionist,” who said his wife was reacting to a family effort to get her to deal with a drinking problem.

“I can categorically state that there was no abuse. Any claim of abuse is irresponsible and frivolous,” said the interventionist, Don Sloane, who said he has 27 years of experience “in conducting interventions for alcoholism and addition.”
“The alleged incident consisted of an intervention by family members including myself, Annie Weinstein’s sister and her brother-in-law, Bob Weinstein’s daughter Sara and additional health professionals in an attempt to convince Bob’s wife Annie to seek help for her drinking addiction.”
The brother-in-law involved was the sister’s husband, not Bob Weinstein’s brother, Harvey. Sara Weinstein is a daughter from Weinstein’s first marriage.
For their part, Anne Weinstein's lawyers, Bonnie Rabin and Harriet Cohen, denied Sloane’s account in a statement, saying, “This is a reckless and irresponsible statement which is wholly false. It is from Bob Weinstein’s paid agent who does not know our client at all. After today’s court appearance, she is now safe with her children.”
A Weinstein spokesman told TheWrap: "Bob’s only hope is that his wife will get the treatment she needs for the sake of their children and herself.”
The divorce papers were filed in Superior Court in Manhattan.
This would be the second divorce for Bob Weinstein who has two girls from a previous marriage.
He married Anne Clancy, a former book editor, in 2000. They have two children, a boy and a girl, and live in a large townhouse on the Upper West Side.
The Weinstein brothers are Queens natives.
