Takes role of Erika Berger in English-language adaptation of Stieg Larsson bestseller

Director David Fincher is still searching for the right actress to play computer hacker Lisbeth Salander in Sony's English-language adaptation of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," but he's wasting no time filling out the rest of the cast.

Robin Wright is in talks to play Erika Berger,   publisher of crusading magazine Millennium, according to Deadline.

Millenium, of course, is also home to hero Michael Blumkvist, who will be played by Daniel Craig. And Berger is not just Blomkvist's editor but occasional lover. I can certainly see Wright having heated romantic chemistry with star Daniel Craig.

Interestingly enough, Wright just played the sometime lover of another journalist (Russell Crowe) in Kevin Macdonald's "State of Play."

The Berger character is also featured in Stieg Larsson's bestselling sequels, "The Girl Who Played With Fire" and "The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest," and Wright is said to be negotiating a deal that will include options for both films.

Earlier today, Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgard revealed he's negotiating to play  depraved Martin Vanger in "Tattoo," while Fincher and producer Scott Rudin continue to weigh who should play the troubled title character.

Wright is currently filming Sony's "Moneyball," the Bennett Miller movie in which she plays the ex-wife of Oakland A's GM Billy Beane (Brad Pitt). She'll next be seen in Robert Redford's "The Conspirator," a period drama that makes its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September.

"Tattoo" begins production this fall, with a release date of Dec. 21, 2011.

Wright is represented by CAA and Anonymous Content.
